4 Reasons People Won’t Reach Their Goals This Year

With 2020 right around the corner, lots of people will vow that this is the year that they’ll lose weight, live healthier, and get in shape.  This is all good, but the reality is, most people will quit within the first month.  I’ve been in the fitness industry for roughly 15 years and I see the same thing every new year until I started running my own gym.  Unfortunately, it’s going to happen again for the majority of the people.  Don’t let this happen to you!!

Here are other 4 reasons why people won’t meet their goals this year:

  •  Unrealistic Goals>> This is #1 because most people don’t set achievable goals right off the bat.  If you’re someone wanting to lose 20-30 pounds in 1-2 months, the chances of that are slim and if you actually do it, chances of sustaining that weight loss, is improbable.  This is the person that wants a quick fix and not a lifestyle change.  Quick fixes aren’t the solution when it comes to your health.

  •  Crash Diet>> This is by far the most common.  As a matter of fact, when I scrolled down my Facebook feed today, I counted 4 people who were asking people on advice losing weight.  I read the responses and most recommended a very low-calorie intake, zero carbs, and other advice that would be sure way to crash and burn in 1-2 months…..bad idea

  •  Start a Running Program>> If you’re a runner and you want to run, by all means run.  If you’re new to fitness, starting a running program is probably the worst thing you can do.  Achy knees, hips, ankles, plantar fasciitis, feet, and back are common problems we hear when people start running again.  I cringe every time I hear this, “I’m gonna need to get in shape before coming out to the gym.”  I’ve heard this probably 50 times in the last 3 years.  That means they think they need to run to get in shape…..again, bad idea
  • Going To The Gym Everyday>> I call this the Tour De Force mode.  This is the person that goes to the gym everyday.  Lets you know they go to the gym everyday because of their social media posts.  You know, that awkward picture usually taken in the bathroom in front of the mirror.  On most occasions, this is the person that downloaded a professional bodybuilder’s routine (usually before their show) and thinks they can keep up with that….and you guessed it, bad idea

Don’t worry, tomorrow I’ll give you some ideas on how to meet your goals the right way in a timely manner.
