Fiber supplements or fiber supplemented foods (for example, yogurts and cereals claiming to be high fiber), do not provide the micronutrients, phytochemicals, and water that is found in whole, nutrient dense foods….In other words, eat more while foods!
In general, men on average should aim for at least 40-45 grams of fiber a day. Women should aim for at least 30-35 grams of fiber per day.
If you build your diet around vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds, you’re probably getting enough fiber. However, if you think you’re probably not getting enough fiber in your diet, here are some good whole food suggestions to help you out!
