February is Heart Health Month and where we will put our focus for this mini blog series. The series will discuss 5 different supplements that support a healthy heart and cardiovascular system.
The 5 supplements that we will be discussing are:
-Magnesium
-Folate
-Vitamin K
-Omega 3
-CoQ10
The first supplement that we will be looking at is Magnesium.
We have discussed magnesium in plenty of blogs and for good reason. It is involved in hundreds of reactions around the body and is essential to our function.
Many Americans do not get enough Magnesium in their diets. Quick and easy food choices do not allow for this.
Magnesium offers many benefits to our overall health. It is a powerhouse that can help us feel our best. Related to heart health, magnesium can help with:
•Nerve and muscle function (heart rate and rhythm)
•Maintaining healthy blood pressure levels
•Regulating blood sugar
As you can see, the benefits of magnesium support the heart in different ways. Be sure to ask your doctor before supplementing because interference could occur with other medications you may be taking. Don’t miss out on the benefits of magnesium as it kicks off our Heart Health focus for February!
