During my 2023 Goal seminar, I posted a slide of John Wick. When I think of John Wick, besides the violence, I think of a fast and relentless pursuit to a goal. I used John Wick to illustrate a term that I call the Tour De Force mode. The Tour De Force mode is when somebody goes all out on their goals.
Let’s take the example someone using the Tour De Force mode to lose 15 pounds
This is a person who goes from 0 to 100mph in one day. They’ll go from eating McDonalds to eating just salads and chicken. They go to the gym every day after not setting foot in one since last January. They might even walk around with a gallon jug of water. I’m sure we all know someone like that…..or maybe this is you.
Now, in the short term, these people may find success. Unfortunately, many of these people will ultimately gain the weight back and then some. The reason why is because they chose a route that was not sustainable long-term.
Think of your health & fitness goals as a long distance run and not a 40yd sprint.
The actions you take need to be sustainable long-term. Take it slow. If you haven’t worked out in a year, start off with 1-2. If your nutrition is way off, start with bettering one meal at a time. Be happy with the small wins in the beginning. These will add up big time in the long run.
