Getting Through The Winter Blues

This past weekend was bitterly cold.  Walking through the grocery store the other night, all I heard were people coughing, sniffing, and sneezing.  With everything else that is going on, I know it’s going to be a long winter.  Besides exercising, there are 4 vitamins you could take to help you get through this winter season.

Vitamin C: this is antioxidant that helps protect your body from free radicals.

Foods: broccoli, citrus fruits, and strawberries

Vitamin D: helps build a stronger immune system

Foods: red meat, oily fish, and egg yolks

Sunlight is very important….GET OUTSIDE!!

Zinc: helps body immune system fight off viruses and bacteria

Foods: beans, nuts, crab, and lobster

B Vitamins: aids in cell metabolism

Foods: legumes, beef, eggs, vegetables, and salmon

You can’t totally prevent getting sick but you can take steps to avoid it as much as possible.  Move, wash your hand, and eat right!!
