Strength training should be the foundation of your program. As we age, our strength and muscle mass decreases. Do yourself a favor and slow down that process. Stronger people are more confident as well. If your goal is fat loss, strength training is the most important after nutrition. Strength training builds lean muscle. Muscle burns more calories. Where people go wrong in strength training is their methods. You want to pick exercises that give you the most bang for your buck. You want to choose exercises that use the most muscle groups. Another tip is to limit the strength exercises using machines. They’re not functional and not as effective.
