Train Your Core Properly Part 2

Like we mentioned before, sit ups, crunches, and Russian twists are things of the past.  We know (or should know) that the best way to train your core is by preventing motion.  A couple months back, we showed some examples of how to progress a plank.  We view the plank as an exercise that prevents extension & flexion of the spine.  If you missed it, click on the examples below:

Another way you can train your core properly is by movements where you are preventing rotation & lateral flexion.  In the two examples below, we show a Tall Kneeling Anti Rotation Press and a Half Kneeling Anti Rotation Press (these are sometimes referred to as Pallof Presses).

Again, the idea of these exercises is to prevent rotation & lateral flexion.  When the right weight is applied, this can be an extremely challenging exercise.
