The other day, a new woman came to start our 30-Day Personal Training Experience. She is pretty active but has absolutely no strength training. She took a look at one of Adult Small Group Training sessions and saw a woman doing chin ups, another doing kettlebell swings and her eyes got HUGE! “Are you expecting me to do that?” she asked. I said no and explained to her that we have regressions and progressions to every exercise. I explained to her that instead of doing chin ups or pullups, she’ll be doing a cable pulldown. Instead of doing kettlebell swings, we need to get better at hinging at the hips first.
For example, starting with the basic pull up or chin up, ways you can regress the movement.
